Once upon a time, here on Earth, times were moving quickly and the world was beginning to change.  The earth was getting so populated with people that eventually scientists had to come up with a plan.  This elaborate plan was to create a stable living environment on another planet similar enough to our own.
Scientists decided that our best option was to move our way of life to the closest and most stable planet of Mars.  Environmentalists installed watering holes and trees and different elements of nature to make the new Mars look like home.  At last the final touch was to add a clock to keep the time parallel with time on earth.
At first everything was great but then the scientists started to notice something strange about the clocks and technology installed on the new Mars.  Eventually anything of technological power became weak and actually started to melt away deteriorate due to the Suns intense rays and power.  Mars began to turn into a place where technology could not survive but only the forces of nature could conquer and live for much much longer.
Mars went on to be a new naturalistic, wonderland of only supporting natural, pure life. The essence of time and technology no longer became a factor for the new world.

All natural Egyptian Ankh shaped complete skateboard deck, and organic leaf vans installation. To be installed at Flagler College.

Post #7 inspiration 1:
The Egyptian Ankh is the known as the "breath of life" or the "key to the afterlife".   This symbol is very often seen in Egyptian art associated with gods and eternal life.

Post#7 inspiration 2:
Andy Goldsworthy is yet again one of my biggest inspirations for my natural skateboard and vans installation.  His philosophy of creating art as a gift to the universe and rooting yourself to nature is a notion that has resonated deeply with me and my artwork.

Post#7 inspiration 3:
Water inspires me in many ways. I love the fluid flow of motion it inhibits.  The feeling of being weightless in water and at the mercy of a nature element is an amazing and exhilarating feeling. Love love for skimboarding surfing and skating is definitely derived from this inspiration of water.

POST #5 Art and Fear Response

This chapter of Art and Fear contains much truth and really opens up my mind about all of my artwork in general.  In the beginning, when talking about making work to create great work, almost seems like the position i am currently in.  I know the styles of art that i love and i know what makes me passionate about my pieces.  I believe the works of art that Ive created and feel the most connected to are the pieces that have great intangible universal meaning.  The best ones i have created were thought out through an unexpected experience, awakening, or inspiring moment in life.
Ive done much research though out my years at Flagler College and the Artists that engage in certain styles of Interconnectivity, environmental, Spiritual, and intangible art never fail to inspire me.  Alex Grey and Andy Goldsworthy are two great examples of Artists admire.  This combination of galactic universal connection with all natural living and existing things creates the heart of my artwork.  Its very interesting because even in pale- neolithic period, the only things artisans had to be inspired by was Nature, the Earth, the Stars, and everything that in interconnected with ourselves and the world we live in.  Art is the only consistent thing throughout time because art is the only passage to express and release feeling and emotion which came even before language.
Art is something personally I feel that I must do for the world because I wish to be apart of the many people before me who have changed the perspective of the world around them for the greater good.  Art is the only product of imagination. Without imagination the greatest things we have to offer do not exist.  I care about art for this reason and because its the only tangible element of the mind body and soul.  So many things in the universe that we cannot see with our own two eyes but with the power of art we can bring these intangible elements into focus and strengthen and better the minds and the world of tomorrow.

Nature and natural organic elements is a huge inspiration for me everyday.  It puts in perspective how everything is living and breathing and has a beautiful temporary life.  Mother natures beauty alone creates much passion in my artwork.

Robert Smithson is a amazing artist who uses photography in relation to his sculptures and environmental art.  One of his most inspiring pieces is Spiral Jetty where he creates a massive coiled jetty of rocks in Salt Lake City which is now a permanent part of the earth.

Shoes are a very interesting part of our lifestyle. I believe they can say the most about a person when observing ones attire, style choices, even mood/personality.  Shoes always have a story of the journey they have been on and are a great parallel of person wearing them.

Skimboard is one of my biggest passions behind my artwork. There is something about being in the water and being connected with the fuidity of one of earths most powerful elements.  This week the art of skimboarding inspired a creative design for a custom skateboard.

Kara Walker PBS Response

Kara Walker has always been an influential artist for me throughout my college career. Her signature silhouette narrative pieces are works of art that require much thought and planning while including little visual information.  Most of her works are life size to lure the audience in the piece and give them a deeper relationship with the narrative being presented.  I love how she mentions that her work is just an illusion of the past ages and how it actually balances with the present day annotation of black America as well as white American.
She says how she finds herself at battle with being the hereine while also killing the hero, relating to her numerous depictions of slave masters being overtaken by slaves or blacks in some fashion. She uses silhouettes so that viewer can't see the subjects directly which in turn excercises the mind into making the work a more imaginative and personal piece.
Kara always had a sense of fear that she linked towards the south and how she always imagined how tough it must be for black America. In her work she almost uses this fear to create her story boards and includes a careful balance between fact and fiction. Her original works really capture powerful moments of joy, pain, sorrow, celebration, and agony.
