New Age Spirituality | EPISODE 35 - Astrology 101 http://www.podbean.com/media/share/dir-4wnb2-12b127b

This podcast concentrated on the basics of astrology. Astrology is the study of the influence that distant cosmic objects, like stars and planets, have on human lives. The position of the sun, stars, moon and planets at the time of people's birth is said to shape their personality, affect their romantic relationships and predict their economic fortunes, among other divinations.  I'm very interested in this study and inspired by the concept of interconnectivity.

This podcast composes many profiles of people in New York City. Gabriel is a production artist in china town that tries to get away from the negative attitude that many people associate with the New Yorker lifestyle.  The people he works with include other artists photographers skateboarders and musicians.  A juxtaposition of attitude using positive energy, in place where it probably goes unnoticed to many, is a huge work of inspiration.

This work of art is a complimentary piece to the mirror box previously installed. These mirror pieces are cut in a way that takes the geometric shape of the palm tree bark.  This was a beatiful addition to the mirror/nature juxtaposition serious I have started.

This street art work is an inspiration from my trip in New York. I love sihouettes and how they envoke such a sense of imagination. I incorporated some street text as well to reflect the graffiti i saw in Manhattan. Colors are to show how the city is always live with energy and lit up at night.

This Roman republic sculpture is a key example of veristic style which was mean to reflect the exact way someone looked.  This early form of human sculpture is very inspiring forms of art.

This artist uses photographs in their work to suggest and work from one to multiple point perspective.

This street art piece in downtown Manhattan suggest that art can take many forms. As long as you are able to open your eyes and mind to the creativity around you.

This artwork is a fishtailed, organic, biological skateboard sculpture. It is non-functional of course, but uses and context of the piece are up to the viewer.

David Hammons is a contemporary artist that inspires me by his use of objects to create meaning and context in his work.

New York Ciry is the city that never sleeps and home to such amazing creativity and artwork.  The lights and buildings and sense of movement and opportunity are great inspirations that come from this atmosphere.

Ceramic art is a technique and form of creativity that has taken place since Neolithic times.  Many uses and different directions to go with ceramic work, the process of sculpting and using your hands is almost becoming a lost art.

This installation consists of a geometric cube made from 12x12 mirrors.  This piece juxtaposes its' geometric properties by being placed an all natural environment.  With this being said the cube reflects and blends in to all of its surrounding and can be depicted as some invisible object or geometric forcefield.

This organic shaped, folding skateboard is a work that alteres the function of an original skateboard into a piece of art.  This style of woodwork, and minimalistic thought provoking function, is a style that I plan to experiment with going forward.  This style of alteration also makes u appreciate/analyze the original and potential qualities of things we see everyday.

Post#9 Inspiration 1:
Mirrors are very interesting and thought provoking.  They show or reflect everything except what the mirror actually is (a flat piece of material).  They can make a space seem invisible, surreal, and almost a portal into an other world.

Post#9 Inspiration 2:
Geometrics have always been a small intriguing part of my work and art that in interested in.  Something about things being exact, fitting into places, and the sense of eternalness that geomtrics forms and art has just really inspires me to depict this somewhat intangible element.

Post#9 Inspiration 3:
Donald Judd is a contemporary artist  who often uses minimalism approaches along with shapes and other simple objects to create amazing works of art.  Judd has inspired me to take my work to a contemporary thought provoking installations.

This piece was originally a lovely print from 1980 of hot air balloons in the daytime sky. I appropriated this piece by changing the setting to my style of work. I used airbrush and combinations of transparent/opaque paints to create a beautiful and active galaxy blended with a portion where the geometric flower of life pattern can be seen.

Post#8 inspiration 1:
Eyes are a beautiful and powerful element of the human body. The eye can be used in a realistic or metaphorical sense when referring to "seeing". This is complex and beautiful part of the human body which we probably take for granted 99% of the time.

Post#8 inspiration 2:
Jellyfish are probably my favorite animals.  They inspire me by their fluid motion and the way they almost breathe as they move in the water. I'm inspired how they have no strong sense of direction and are at the mercy of the earth and waters' current.

Post#8 inspiration 3:
The human body is one of my biggest inspirations in most of my artwork. It's an extremely intricate and complex machine.  We all are made up of so many different parts and systems to create the electric form we unconsciously operate everyday.
